Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Pre/Post Op position requiring PALS certification and Level I Trauma Center experience.

Details

• Work in a 10-bed Pediatric PeriAnesthesia Unit with an additional 4-bed Pediatric Surgical Observation Unit (PSOU)
• PSOU provides specialized postoperative care for pediatric patients requiring overnight observation or extended recovery up to 23 hours following surgery
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BSN preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in pre/post op patient care including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with pediatric patient management, including ENT tonsillectomy cases

Additional Information

• Provide pre and postoperative nursing care to pediatric surgical patients
• Care team supports patients undergoing ENT, general, and orthopedic surgeries
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off approved per 13-week contract
• Vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to start
• Previous UVA Health staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days
