Description
American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU/Stepdown RN for a unique children's hospital unit requiring vent, trach, and G-tube experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Work in a specialized inpatient pediatric unit with 39 beds caring for all specialties
- Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% having some form of technology dependence
- Acute care unit caring for chronically ill patients, including those with tracheostomies and chronic ventilators; no drips or surgical patients
- Patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30); 3x12 schedules also accepted
- Scheduled every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
- Open to block scheduling requests
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- 1:4 patient ratio experience required
- Vent, trach, and G-tube care experience required
- Meditech charting system experience required
- Skills in respiratory care, care of ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, and management of gastric tubes required
- Flu vaccine required, with medical and religious exemptions accepted
Additional Information
- Provide direct care to pediatric patients with chronic illnesses and technology dependence, including tracheostomies and ventilators
- Peds-themed scrubs encouraged; any clean, neat scrub color accepted
- Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
- RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start; no additional RTO may be added once the contract begins
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Pending license candidates accepted
- Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics are not eligible for this travel assignment
