Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatrics RN with 2+ years of experience and chemo administration skills for a hospital caring for pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients.

Details

• Pediatric Medical-Surgical and Hematology/Oncology unit caring for patients ages 0-17
• Target patient ratios of 1:5-6
• 12-hour day shifts, 06:45-19:15, with 36 hours per week schedule option
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Float requirement to PICU and NICU
• Self-scheduling utilized on the unit
• Uses PYXIS, Epic, and SBAR charting systems

Requirements

• Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Chemotherapy administration skills required
• IV start, lab draw, and chemo certification preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted if they meet the 2-year experience requirement

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to pediatric medical-surgical and hematology/oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care and management
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with hospital orientation the first week requiring daily class attendance
• Scrubs not provided; fun kid-themed tops with navy pants required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• No RTO allowed during the first week of assignment; up to 7 days RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays)
• 20+ week contracts accepted through February 27, 2027 to support holiday coverage
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying, with facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
