Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
- Verify that prescribed medicines are suitable for patients
- Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients
- Consult on prescription and non-prescription medications for storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Compound medications for external or internal use
- Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures
- Supervise pharmacy staff members including pharmacy technicians and clerks
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate with healthcare providers
- Work in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements of the Pharmacist- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
