Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist- Accept and dispense prescription medications.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.
- Ensure the supply of medicines is within the law.
- Ensure prescribed medicines are suitable for patients.
- Accurately maintain confidential records of all patients.
- Advise patients about medicines, including dosage and potential side effects.
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Offer services such as smoking cessation and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on handling medical devices like glucose meters.
- Compound medications for external or internal use.
- Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems with physicians.
Requirements of the Pharmacist- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board.
