Description: This position involves compounding, preparing, mixing, manufacturing, and dispensing medicines. It requires the application of a high level of technical and organizational skills. The role includes overseeing the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. Maintaining the standards set by the department is essential. The pharmacist will translate policies and procedures into daily operations and clinical activities. Supervision and training of assigned technical personnel are critical components of the job. The pharmacist will be responsible for technical support activities within the pharmacy department. Essential functions include processing, entering, verifying, and sending medication orders in a timely manner. Compliance with department policies, regulatory guidelines, and standards is required. Ensuring medication therapy is efficacious, safe, convenient, and cost-effective is a priority. The pharmacist will establish the best therapeutic outcomes. Medication prescribing must be optimal concerning indications, doses, routes, frequencies, and potential interactions with other drugs. Daily reports on medication utilization will be conducted to identify and analyze areas for improvement. Quality assurance procedures in related work areas are necessary. Participation in pharmacy-related tasks and programs is expected. Changes needed to meet regulatory and licensing standards will be expedited. Identifying opportunities for cost savings in the department is encouraged. Compliance with the drug formulary and appropriate documentation is required. Collaboration with leadership for purchasing and contracting medications and related supplies is essential. The pharmacist will assist in process improvement and the development of new pharmacy services. Individuals with specific communicable diseases or who meet exclusion criteria shall not enter certain compounding areas until conditions are remedied. Additional job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
