Job Description
- Review, interpret, validate, process, and accurately dispense medication orders and prescriptions.
- Monitor patient medication therapy for therapeutic appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety.
- Provide pharmaceutical care and support appropriate medication use for hospital patients.
- Communicate drug and medication information to physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
- Respond to medical emergencies and assist with medication preparation and drug information.
- Ensure adequate medication supplies and maintain appropriate pharmacy inventory and controls.
- Coordinate and oversee pharmacy technician activities during the shift.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and comply with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Apply strong clinical judgment, prioritization, problem-solving, and time-management skills in an independent overnight setting.
