Full-Time | Contract (13 Weeks) | Onsite | Varying day or evening shifts; 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts available. Shift options include: 7AM–3:30PM, 8AM–4:30PM, 1PM–9PM, 2PM–10PM, 7AM–5PM, 11AM–9PM, 12PM–10PM, 7AM–7PM, or 8AM–8PM. Rotating weekends required. No on-call requirement. Temp-to-perm possibility.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and dispense drug orders per physician request in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
Interpret verbal and written drug orders and accurately transcribe/verify into the computerized patient medication record; maintain complete and accurate patient drug records.
Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Provide clinical consultation, drug information, and patient/family education in accordance with institutional protocols; attend interdisciplinary rounds when assigned.
Participate in antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, shortage management, and quality improvement/medication use review activities.
Supervise and direct pharmacy support personnel, including verifying daily activities of pharmacy technicians; issue and maintain controlled substance records as required by law.
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or BS in Pharmacy required.
Active Louisiana Pharmacy State Licensure required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association (AHA) required.
ACLS via AHA required (ACLS preferred over BLS alone).
Ability to work varying shifts including days, evenings, and rotating weekends.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
Experience in an ICU setting; familiarity with cardiac cath lab, emergency department, inpatient behavioral health, and orthopedic surgery environments is a plus.
ACLS certification via AHA preferred.
Experience with pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulation management, and IV-to-PO conversion programs.
