Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, accurate inpatient pharmacy services during day shifts.

  • Prepare and dispense medications per physician orders and hospital protocols.

  • Review patient charts for contraindications, allergies, and interactions.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.

  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmacotherapy and patient outcomes.

  • Participate in daily rounding and clinical rounds to support med-therapy decisions.

  • Document interventions and outcomes in the electronic health record with precision.

  • Utilize performance metrics and pipelines to track daily targets and productivity.

  • Manage inventory, order medications, and monitor expiration to reduce waste.

  • Provide patient and family counseling on medication use, safety, and adherence.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.


Experience/Qualifications

  • Licensed pharmacist with active state license and inpatient hospital experience.

  • Day shifts in inpatient settings with ability to participate in rounds and clinical decision-making.

  • Proficient in sterile compounding, medication preparation, and accurate dispensing per orders.

  • Strong clinical knowledge in pharmacotherapy, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) documentation and outcome tracking.

  • Familiarity with hospital regulatory standards and accreditation requirements (e.g., JCAHO/Joint Commission).

  • Data-driven mindset; track performance metrics and daily productivity pipelines.

  • Team collaboration with cross-functional healthcare staff; proactive process improvement.

  • Inventory management, ordering, expiration monitoring, and waste reduction.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and families about medications and adherence.
