Key Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver medications to appropriate patient care areas under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty.
- Maintain pharmacy drug inventory in accordance with the Drug Formulary, including ordering, receiving, storage, and required documentation.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records for narcotics and other controlled substances in compliance with applicable policies.
- Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding in compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards, including preparation of IV solutions using aseptic technique.
- Assist with accurate billing, crediting, and financial reporting documentation for patient medications.
- Conduct monthly inspections of patient care units and other areas where drugs are dispensed, administered, or stored, and participate in semi-annual pharmacy inventory.
Required Qualifications- Active Pharmacy Technician licensure or registration as required by the state of Pennsylvania.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with USP 795, 797, and 800 standards.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique for sterile compounding, including transfer of medications from ampules and vials to syringes and IV bags.
- Ability to accurately read, analyze, compound, and document information based on Master Formulation Records.
- All required training, licensures, CEUs, and in-services must be current.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience with unit dose medication systems and medication repacking procedures.
- Familiarity with pharmacy quality improvement and financial reporting documentation.
- Experience working in an inpatient or specialty hospital pharmacy setting.
