Key Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive evaluations of assigned outpatient clients and develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans aligned with patient needs, goals, and physician direction
  • Complete medical record documentation in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner including goal writing, functional quality indicator assessments, letters of medical necessity, and charge entry in compliance with state, federal, and payer guidelines
  • Delegate and direct discipline-specific therapy services for assigned patients, ensuring functional treatment programs support effective return to community activities
  • Serve as an educator to patients, families, students, and coworkers; participate in student programs by providing supervision, developing learning objectives, and completing student evaluations
  • Adhere to discipline-specific state practice acts and regulatory requirements; maintain professional licensure in good standing and fulfill all state-mandated continuing education requirements
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute feedback through staff meetings, focus groups, or direct supervision channels

Required Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Physical Therapist license in the state of Virginia
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Proficiency in outpatient physical therapy evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation
  • Knowledge of and adherence to state practice acts, professional codes of conduct, and applicable regulatory standards
  • Ability to ensure care is provided under valid physician orders and within insurance authorization requirements

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in an outpatient rehabilitation setting with a focus on functional outcomes and return to community activities
  • Demonstrated involvement in continuing education, professional organizations, or self-directed professional development
  • Familiarity with safe patient handling practices and workplace safety protocols
