Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapy Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day shift Hours per Shift: 32 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Must be licensed in NH or VT Certifications: Valid Driver’s License and agency level auto insurance Description: Physical Therapist Assistants provide physical therapy services according to a patient plan of care. The PTA will provide treatment to patients as prescribed by a physician after evaluation of the patient’s physical therapy and rehabilitation needs. The registered physical therapist will make the initial evaluation visit and assign care to the PTA as appropriate. The PTA will treat patients within the plan of care developed with the registered physical therapist to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance. Treatment may include the use of physical means such as exercise, massage, heat, water, light, and electricity. The PTA will direct and aid patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait training, and activities of daily living including transfer activities and prosthetic training. The PTA will make use of equipment such as ultraviolet and infrared lamps, low voltage generation, diathermy, and ultrasonic machines. The PTA will observe, record, and report to the registered physical therapist the patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in the patient’s condition. The PTA will teach the patient and caregivers self-care techniques and activities as appropriate. The PTA will arrange for the use of equipment that is available to patients. The PTA will complete and submit accurate and relevant clinical notes and required documentation in a timely manner in accordance with expected agency standards.
