Job Title: Physical Therapist (Acute Care) Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: PT Acute Care Hospital Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required License: Valid TX PT license (pending accepted) Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: Travel experience not required; local candidates not accepted within a 50-mile radius. Description: The position is for a physical therapist in an acute care hospital setting. The facility has a capacity of 450 beds with an average census of approximately 360 patients. The therapy team serves seven floors offering therapy services. This is a trauma level 3 hospital. The therapist will see a variety of patient diagnoses including orthopedic, neurological, oncology, and post-operative conditions. The daily caseload will include both medical and surgical patients, as well as those in the ICU. The team typically includes 8-10 physical therapists and 6-8 physical therapist assistants daily. Collaboration with occupational and speech therapy teams, as well as case management, is essential. Applicants should possess experience in acute care, adaptive devices, various patient conditions, and rehabilitation techniques. Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary for success in this role. The position may involve working closely with patients recovering from surgeries and serious medical conditions. Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid systems is advantageous. The therapist will be responsible for patient assessments, creating individualized programs, and monitoring progress. Documentation is an essential part of this role, familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred. This is a non-local travel position, and candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
