Description: This position involves implementing patient rehabilitation programs to improve patient mobility, function, and strength. The physical therapist evaluates and treats patients for physical therapy and rehabilitation programs. This role requires the utilization of electronic medical records to complete evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries. The physical therapist will guide and monitor patient care throughout all aspects of treatment and follow-up. Supervision of PT Assistants and Aides regarding all aspects of patient care is required. Effective communication with physicians and other personnel to ensure quality patient care is essential. Responsibilities include accurate patient chart documentation and follow-up regarding prescriptions, test results, and authorizations. The therapist must ensure patient comfort and be available to answer questions as needed. Collaboration with front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow-up is important. Computer skills are necessary to perform job duties efficiently, including typing, using word processing software, and utilizing electronic medical records. The physical therapist must be able to make independent decisions regarding patient care. Participation in business marketing and referral processes may be needed. Compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures is required. Familiarity with billing policies and procedures for various payment types is necessary. The position involves physical mobility including a combination of sitting, walking, and prolonged standing for 8-10 hour workdays. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing PT Assistants and Aides in patient care. The work environment is in a physical therapy clinic within an outpatient/rehabilitation setting. Patient privacy must be protected in accordance with company policies and federal and state laws. Active participation in privacy training is expected. The physical demands include walking, sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving throughout working hours.
