Job Description & Requirements
Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation - (PT - Rehab)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 D Pay Rate: $2269.00 - $2338.00

This Physical Therapist position is based in a dedicated inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting in Lancaster, Ohio, offering the opportunity to work in a close-knit community with access to both small-town charm and nearby urban amenities. Lancaster is known for its historic downtown, tree-lined neighborhoods, and welcoming atmosphere. The city sits near the scenic Hocking Hills region, providing easy access to hiking, rock formations, waterfalls, and outdoor recreation. Residents enjoy local festivals, farmers markets, museums, and a growing arts scene, while still being within commuting distance of Columbus for professional sports, major concerts, shopping, and dining. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting is designed to deliver high-intensity, goal-directed therapy to patients recovering from a wide range of conditions, including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, major orthopedic surgeries, complex fractures, debility after medical illness, and other neurologic and musculoskeletal impairments. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that may include physiatrists, hospitalists, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, dietitians, and social workers, all working together to help patients achieve meaningful functional gains and safe discharges back to home or community settings. As a Physical Therapist in this environment, you can expect to evaluate and treat adult and geriatric patients with varying levels of acuity. A typical day includes comprehensive initial evaluations, development of individualized, measurable treatment plans, and delivery of intensive therapy sessions focused on mobility, balance, strength, endurance, functional transfers, and gait training. You will utilize a range of therapeutic approaches, including task-specific training, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities that support independence in daily living. You will also provide extensive patient and family education on home exercise programs, safe mobility techniques, and durable medical equipment needs to ensure continuity of care after discharge. Patient ratios in an inpatient rehab hospital are structured to support frequent, focused therapy sessions and close monitoring of patient progress. You will collaborate daily with the care team through rounds and interdisciplinary meetings to review outcomes, adjust care plans, set updated goals, and prepare patients and families for discharge. You can expect a schedule that typically includes full-time hours, with options for day shifts and potential weekend or holiday rotation, depending on department needs. The environment emphasizes patient-centered care, strong team communication, and safety, including appropriate use of lifts, transfer equipment, and assistive devices. The facility features dedicated therapy gyms, treatment spaces, and access to specialized equipment that may include body-weight support systems, advanced gait training devices, stair trainers, parallel bars, balance systems, and adaptive technology to help patients reach higher levels of function. Therapists often have opportunities to work within specialized clinical programs such as stroke recovery, orthopedic rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, or medically complex rehab, allowing you to develop deeper expertise and tailor your practice to areas of professional interest. This setting is well suited for Physical Therapists who value meaningful, relationship-based care and enjoy seeing the impact of their work over an intensive rehab stay. You will have opportunities to participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and evidence-based practice projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and therapy workflows. The collaborative culture supports professional growth, mentorship, and a clear clinical development path. Living and working in Lancaster offers a balanced lifestyle, with short commutes, affordable housing, and highly rated schools, all within a community that prides itself on safety and neighborly connections. Proximity to Columbus expands your options for continuing education, professional networking, and leisure activities, while the surrounding countryside and nearby Hocking Hills region provide endless opportunities to recharge in nature. This position is ideal for a Physical Therapist who wants to build a rewarding inpatient rehab career in a community-oriented setting where both professional and personal life can thrive.
