Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Profession: Physical Therapist Assistant Specialty: Physical Therapist Assistant Duration: 24 months Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: Outpatient M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Inpatient M-F 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Sat 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Experience: Two years' physical therapy or technical experience preferred License: Physical Therapy Assistant licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: High School Education/GED or equivalent required Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience required Description: This position provides physical therapy treatments under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. The role includes the use of modalities, manual techniques, and common exercise techniques. The Physical Therapist Assistant instructs and guides patients through functional activities. This may include bed mobility, transfers, gait, and balance activities. The position works under minimal supervision and may involve mentoring and training staff on technical skills. Essential functions include observing and following treatment precautions as identified by physical therapists, nurses, or physicians. The assistant observes for changes in patient responses and reports changes to nurses and physical therapists in charge. Daily and timely patient chart documentation of interventions and services in the acute care setting is required. Education and training will be provided to patients and caregivers, incorporating learning style preferences. The assistant assesses education and training responses and performs additional job-related duties as assigned. Client is committed to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients.
