Job Summary

A Rehabilitation Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates and treats patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, neurological conditions, or chronic illnesses. The PT develops and implements individualized rehabilitation programs to restore mobility, improve functional independence, reduce pain, and prevent further disability. This role often works within interdisciplinary rehab teams in inpatient or outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and functional assessments
  • Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans based on patient goals and diagnoses
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including exercise therapy, manual therapy, and neuromuscular re-education
  • Utilize modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and injury prevention
  • Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and patient outcomes accurately
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and rehab aides
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards
Requirements & QualificationsEducation & Licensure
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program
  • Active Physical Therapist license in the state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience
  • New graduates welcome; clinical rotations in rehabilitation required
  • 1–2 years of experience in rehab settings preferred (inpatient rehab, SNF, outpatient rehab)
  • Experience with orthopedic, neurological, or post-acute care patients is a plus
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong clinical assessment and rehabilitation planning skills
  • Knowledge of rehab techniques for orthopedic, neurological, and geriatric conditions
  • Excellent patient care, communication, and motivational skills
  • Ability to develop goal-oriented, functional treatment plans
  • Strong documentation and time management abilities
  • Team-oriented with interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Physical stamina to assist with patient mobility and exercises
