Job Summary

A Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) to help patients recover from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions. The PTA assists in implementing treatment plans designed to improve mobility, relieve pain, and restore physical function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement treatment plans developed by a Physical Therapist
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and functional training
  • Use modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold therapy
  • Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising PT
  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises and home care techniques
  • Document patient treatments, responses, and progress accurately
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and use of assistive devices
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
Requirements & QualificationsEducation & Certification
  • Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Active PTA license or certification (as required by state)
  • CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required)
Experience
  • New graduates may be considered; experience preferred (6 months–1 year)
  • Clinical rotation experience required
  • Experience in outpatient, inpatient, or rehab settings is a plus
