Physical Therapist Assistant - Outpatient - (PTA)

This PTA position is based in Oneonta, Alabama, a welcoming small town in Blount County known for its scenic rolling hills, covered bridges, and relaxed pace of life. Located roughly 45 minutes from Birmingham, Oneonta offers the advantages of a quieter community with easy access to a major metropolitan area for dining, shopping, cultural events, and travel connections. The clinic is an outpatient rehabilitation setting focused on orthopedics and sports medicine, serving a diverse patient population from active adolescents to working adults and seniors. As a PTA, you will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for musculoskeletal, post-surgical, and injury-prevention cases, using evidence-based interventions to help patients return to work, sport, and daily activities. You will collaborate closely with other therapists and support staff in a professional, team-oriented environment that values clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and ongoing learning.
A typical day includes performing initial evaluations, developing individualized plans of care, providing manual therapy and therapeutic exercise interventions, and progressing patients through functional and sport-specific programs as appropriate. Patient scheduling is designed to support thorough one-on-one care while maintaining steady patient flow throughout the day. Documentation is completed in an electronic medical record system, with an emphasis on clear, efficient charting and utilization of standardized outcome measures.
You will participate in patient education, discharge planning, and communication with referring providers to ensure continuity of care. The role may include opportunities to assist with community outreach and local wellness or injury-prevention initiatives, helping to promote physical health within Oneonta and the surrounding area.
