PTAs assist in the treatment of individuals of all ages, from newborns to those at the end of life. They help patients stretch and exercise certain muscle groups. They read instructions from the Physical Therapist. PTAs work directly with the Physical Therapist to assist patients. They speak with families to find the best at-home techniques. They keep the physical therapy area clean and organized. PTAs move patients from wheelchairs or walkers to the therapy area. They complete administrative tasks, like scheduling appointments and filing paperwork. PTAs teach patients techniques like balance training.
