    Physical Therapist Assistant

    Contract | Days | Minimum 32 hours per week | Availability for 2 evening shifts per week required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, endurance training, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
    • Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
    • Administer therapeutic modalities including whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin bath, ultrasound, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and therapeutic pool treatments.
    • Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education in accordance with facility guidelines.
    • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safe patient handling practices, and all applicable safety policies and procedures.
    • Participate in team conferences, consult with other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected treatment goals, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives as requested.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in Maryland.
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
    • Ability to meet a volume expectation of 45–50 patients per week.
    • Availability for at least 2 evening shifts per week within a minimum 32-hour schedule.
    • Knowledge of and adherence to safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with a broad range of therapeutic modalities and assistive device training.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish professional and ethical working relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary staff.
    • Experience participating in team conferences and contributing to patient care quality improvement projects.
