    Physical Therapist Assistant

    Location

    Virginia | Outpatient

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day | 13 weeks (6-month assignment preferred)

    Key Responsibilities
    • Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training
    • Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness
    • Administer and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, iontophoresis, hot/cold packs, whirlpool, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, and therapeutic pool
    • Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education
    • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control guidelines, safe patient handling practices, and equipment safety protocols
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, participate in team conferences, and serve as a resource regarding therapy goals and interventions
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in Virginia
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant
    • Proficiency in therapeutic exercise, modality application, and assistive device training
    • Ability to document patient progress accurately and in compliance with facility policies
    • Commitment to patient and employee safety standards in all aspects of care delivery
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting
    • Familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic modalities including iontophoresis and fluidotherapy
    • Experience with community re-entry training and functional skills programming
