Key Responsibilities
- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, and functional skills training.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs, demonstrating proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Administer therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and electrical stimulation units.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary, documenting patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education.
- Educate patients and families on proper body mechanics and safe use of prescribed equipment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, participate in team conferences, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Ohio.
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with therapeutic modalities and assistive devices used in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to adhere to all safety, infection control, and facility policies and procedures.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record patient progress and treatment responses.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Experience with community re-entry training and endurance or cardiac rehabilitation programs.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability to build professional relationships with patients, families, and staff.
