Key Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist
• Administer treatment procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices
• Assess patient progress and communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatment plans accordingly
• Document all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system and accurately record treatment minutes per all applicable requirements
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers related to physical disorders
• Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings, and support student supervision under the guidance of the Physical Therapist

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of PTA experience required
• Long Term Care (LTC) or rehabilitation setting experience required
• Active Texas Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license required
• Adherence to APTA and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics standards

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience utilizing evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems for clinical recordkeeping
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams on patient care planning and discharge summaries
