    Physical Therapist Assistant

    Key Responsibilities
    • Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
    • Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
    • Apply and demonstrate the use of therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, iontophoresis, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
    • Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education in a timely manner.
    • Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control protocols including hand hygiene, use of PPE, and proper equipment cleaning between patient sessions.
    • Participate in team conferences, consult with other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected treatment goals, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Florida.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions including exercise programs, modality application, and assistive device training.
    • Ability to implement treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
    • Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
    • Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record patient progress and treatment responses.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
    • Familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic modalities including therapeutic pool, iontophoresis, and fluidotherapy.
    • Experience with community re-entry training and patient and family education on body mechanics.
