Key Responsibilities
Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
Apply and demonstrate the use of therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, iontophoresis, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education in a timely manner.
Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control protocols including hand hygiene, use of PPE, and proper equipment cleaning between patient sessions.
Participate in team conferences, consult with other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected treatment goals, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Active licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Florida.
Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions including exercise programs, modality application, and assistive device training.
Ability to implement treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record patient progress and treatment responses.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
Familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic modalities including therapeutic pool, iontophoresis, and fluidotherapy.
Experience with community re-entry training and patient and family education on body mechanics.
