Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercise, balance, coordination, endurance, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
Assist patients with locomotion training using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding and gait belt techniques.
Administer and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, whirlpool, paraffin bath, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary, documenting patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education in a timely manner.
Educate patients and families on proper body mechanics and safe use of prescribed equipment.
Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to all infection control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in the state of Florida.
Ability to implement and carry out treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and safe patient handling techniques.
Commitment to patient and employee safety standards in an outpatient clinical setting.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting; new graduates are welcome to apply.
Familiarity with community re-entry training and assistive/adaptive equipment instruction.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
