Job Summary: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Specialty Nurse position is located in Oakland, California. This role involves working within a Level 1 trauma center that specializes in neuro and cardiac care. The position offers night shifts and requires adaptability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in pediatric critical care and possess current licensure and certifications.
Job Details:
Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, at least 5 years of experience including PICU experience, CA RN license in hand, BSN required for all RN positions.
Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, trauma level I healthcare environment, pediatric patient care experience, community hospital experience, neuro & cardiac specialization.
Certifications: BLS, PALS.
Skills: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, managing ports, renal failure management, blood and blood product administration, seizure and arrhythmia management, arterial line care, intubation assistance, ventilator management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, infection control, insulin administration, NG tube management, pediatric dosage calculations, PICU procedures, sedation monitoring, tracheostomy care, urinary catheter management, ventilator management, wound assessment.
Additional Information: Ability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed. Orientation hours are 24. Compensation details are not disclosed.
