Job Summary:
A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) is sought to provide care at a healthcare providers facility located in Aurora, Colorado. This role involves working in a dynamic pediatric critical care environment, with a focus on caring for patients from birth to 21 years of age, requiring flexibility to rotate between day and night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Position: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN
  • Location: Aurora, Colorado
  • Shift: 12-hour rotating days/nights, with some straight night positions available
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week
  • Start Dates: 08/18/2026 to 11/21/2026, 09/08/2026 to 12/12/2026, or 09/22/2026 to 12/26/2026
  • Travel Requirement: Yes
  • Float Requirement: Yes, float to all inpatient care areas including critical care and acute care floors but not to emergency department, operating room, or inpatient psychiatric units
  • Float Eligibility: Eligible to float within a state-defined radius and within their clinical competence
  • Experience: 3+ years in a comparable PICU as staff RN (or 2+ years with increased staff experience)
  • Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • Licensure: Colorado RN license required
    • Certifications: Required: BLS, PALS; Preferred: ACLS
    • Equipment Proficiency: Trilogy & Drager ventilators, Codman ICP monitors, Medfusion syringe pumps, Baxter large volume IV pumps
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Experience caring for patients from birth to 21 years with diagnoses including respiratory support, chronic childhood diseases, sepsis, TBI, DKA, seizure disorders, oncology, metabolic disorders, and surgical patients (neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedics, general surgery)
    • Preference for 2+ years staff experience and 1 year travel experience in a teaching facility PICU
  • Scheduling Options: Rotating days & nights or straight nights only; no straight day positions available
  • On-Call: None
  • Comments: No scheduled RTO allowed within the first two weeks; exemption requests for medical or religious reasons accepted with proper documentation
