Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring PALS/BLS certification and prior PICU experience with a TN or compact license.

Details

• Work in a 14-bed PICU with 11 private rooms and one semi-private area of 3 beds
• Patient population ranges from infants to 21 years old
• Common diagnoses include DKA, respiratory failure, respiratory distress, pneumonia, status asthmaticus, trauma, sepsis, ingestion, seizures, altered mental status, post-arrest, and post-surgical cases
• Bedside procedures include central line or arterial line placement, chest tube placement, bronchoscopy, and EVD/bolt placement
• Equipment used includes Philips monitors, Servo ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo feeding pumps
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 1845-0715
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating to other units required as needed

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and airway care
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with neurologic care including EVD and ICP monitoring preferred
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation preferred

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex and acute conditions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team in a high-acuity PICU setting
• Travelers who have oriented at this facility within the past year are not required to reorient
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
