Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active NJ or Compact license and 2+ years of PICU critical care experience.

Details

• Work in a 19-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit supporting critical care patients with variable acuity and stepdown capability
• Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, and adolescents
• PICU staffing ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2, with stepdown at 1:3, pediatrics at 1:4-5, and NICU at 1:2-3
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within skillset to appropriate units based on census, acuity, and staffing needs
• EPIC charting experience required
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience required, with 1 year of cardiac experience strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with renal care including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Charge nurse and teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with variable acuity in a large, nationally recognized pediatric critical care program
• Facility features 24/7 intensivist-led coverage and a nationally recognized Children's Heart Center
• Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Completion of non-billable EPIC and facility-specific training modules required pre-start and annually
