Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring NJ or compact licensure and prior PICU experience.

Details

• PICU unit with 4 dedicated PICU beds and 8 convertible beds that can be monitored or general pediatric
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 in PICU and 1:3-4 for pediatric patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Every third weekend required
• Floating required to NICU (training provided) and to L&D/Postpartum as helping hands only
• Also subject to floating to the Ridgewood Observation Unit as needed
• No PCAs on unit, RNs provide total patient care
• Self-scheduling with manager final approval, block scheduling allowed with required weekend commitment
• Utilizes CPAP, Vapotherm, and high-flow oxygen equipment
• Cares for COVID-positive patients on this unit

Requirements

• Active NJ State or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Must pass a Basic Arrhythmia Exam with a minimum score of 80%, no retakes permitted
• Proficiency in systematic EKG rhythm interpretation, heart rate calculations, and identification of atrial, ventricular, junctional, paced rhythms and heart blocks
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Current Nursys verification and proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series and booster required for consideration
• One supervisory/manager reference dated within one year of assignment start required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct bedside care for critically ill pediatric patients requiring intensive monitoring and support
• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted at the local rate
• Prior permanent employees of the facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
