Job Summary:
Polysomnographer in Binghamton, New York. This position involves performing and efficiently conducting sleep diagnostic testing in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines. The role requires excellent patient communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to react swiftly in emergency situations to ensure patient safety and data quality.

Job Details:

• Reviews patient information in chart and verifies order for study.
• Explains setup and testing protocols to patient/caregiver, answering any questions they may have.
• Sets up patient according to policy and American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines.
• Performs sleep studies, closely monitoring the patient for clinical and physiological events and taking appropriate actions to obtain required sleep/wake data.
• Conducts Titration and Split night studies in accordance with policy and physician orders.
• Wakes patient when adequate data has been obtained and removes electrodes and transducers carefully, assisting with hygiene as necessary.
• Scores studies in accordance with AASM scoring manual guidelines and completes all scoring in a timely manner.
• Prioritizes scoring over non-patient related functions, such as continuing education units and housekeeping duties.
• Completes Inter Score Reliability monthly.
• Notifies Medical Director, Physician Assistant, and/or Clinical Manager of adverse changes in patient condition or any unusual situations during the sleep study.
• Assists in training new personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Schedule: Nights; 40 hours per week; 8 hours per shift.
• Required Qualifications: Associate's degree from an accredited school in Polysomnography; BLS certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross; Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT); New York State Registered Polysomnographic Technician or Respiratory Therapist license.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in Sleep Medicine.
