Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post-Surgical Care Med/Surg Tele position at a Level III Trauma teaching hospital in Concord, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience.
Details
- Work in a 28-bed Post-Surgical Care unit within a 457-bed Level III Trauma teaching hospital that includes a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence
- Patient population includes orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6, with potential surge ratios of 1:7–8
- Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized for patient care
- 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV pumps: BD Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips and Masimo
- Floating may be required to other facilities within the regional network, including Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division locations
- No on-call or call-back requirements
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- General post-surgical skills required, including incision care, wound care/wound vacs, chest tubes, drains, trach care, NG tube insertion, use of braces/traction, and patient mobility
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Comprehensive unit support includes CNAs (phlebotomy, ADLs, Foley insertion/removal), an IV/VAT Team, charge nurse support, RT 24/7, hospitalist coverage 24/7, Rapid Response/Code Team, BERT Behavioral Response Team, and a dedicated mentor
- Orientation includes facility-level NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any hours missed must be made up at the end of the contract
- Scheduling operates on a 6-week cycle
- Required scrub color: Navy
- Free parking available in designated areas
- Permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
