Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Mother/Baby, postpartum, or related maternal-child nursing experience required
• Travel nurse experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at submission
• Compact RN license must be active at submission, if applicable
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Ability to care for postpartum patients, newborns, and couplet care assignments
• Strong communication, prioritization, and family education skills
• Must be comfortable with weekend coverage and occasional floating

Mother/Baby RN Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate postpartum nursing care for patients following vaginal or cesarean delivery
• Support couplet care, low-risk antepartum, transition nursery, and normal newborn care
• Perform newborn assessments, thermoregulation support, and glucose management
• Educate and support parents with discharge teaching, infant identification, and breastfeeding support
• Monitor and assist with post-op recovery care, including pain management and recovery support
• Administer and manage medications and therapies such as heparin, insulin, magnesium sulfate, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and blood products as ordered
• Assist with wound care, drains, bladder care, and postpartum follow-up needs
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to promote safe, patient-centered outcomes for mothers and babies
• Float as needed to NICU, Labor & Delivery, or nearby sister facilities based on patient care needs
