Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) – Hawaii Travel Nursing Assignment in Hilo

Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Hilo, Hawaii
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Unit: Cardiac Progressive Care Unit with 15 beds, including progressive care and step-down ICU beds
• Shift: Night shift, 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. (12-hour nights)
• Schedule: 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation; hours are not guaranteed
• Call: No call requirement
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4 in progressive care and 1:3 in step-down ICU
• Pre-assignment Onboarding: Arrival is required on the Thursday before the start date for a Friday employee health appointment
• Dress Code: Scrubs

Progressive Care RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Hawaii, or the ability to obtain an active Hawaii RN license upon acceptance and before the assignment start date
• At least 1 year of hospital acute-care nursing experience within the past year
• Progressive care, cardiac, and telemetry nursing experience preferred
• Current nursing credentials and eligibility to practice in the assigned specialty
• ACLS preferred
• Current PALS preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Ability to float to acute-care areas such as medical-surgical, pediatric, intensive care, and emergency departments as needed

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care for progressive care, cardiac, telemetry, and step-down ICU patients
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Monitor patients using continuous cardiac monitoring and accurately interpret telemetry strips
• Administer medications and treatments using Pyxis medication-dispensing technology
• Perform fingerstick blood glucose testing and respond appropriately to results
• Care for patients requiring BiPAP and other higher-acuity respiratory support
• Document patient care using Meditech electronic charting
• Communicate effectively with providers, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Float safely and effectively to other acute-care departments when required
