Travel Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) – Night Shift Contract in Asheville, NC

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU), stepdown, and cardiac nursing
• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 28, 2026
• End Date: December 28, 2026
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, typically three 12-hour shifts
• Shift: Nights, approximately 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Unit Profile: 40-bed progressive care unit with typical patient ratios of 1:4, with occasional 1:5 staffing
• Documentation: Cerner electronic medical record (EMR)
• Floating: Med-Surg, stepdown, COVID, and emergency department holding areas as needed

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent progressive care, stepdown, telemetry, or comparable acute care nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in North Carolina
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Demonstrated telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience
• Experience managing titratable or cardiac intravenous medications, such as nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, heparin, and diuretics
• Ability to provide flexible, compassionate patient care and work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Comfort working in all-white, all-navy, or white-top and navy-pants clinical attire

Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with heart failure, myocardial infarction, chest pain, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and diabetic ketoacidosis
• Care for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker or ICD procedures, and cardiac ablation
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and evaluation of responses to treatment
• Safely manage titratable cardiac and critical-care infusions according to provider orders and clinical protocols
• Participate in bedside cardioversion procedures and other progressive care interventions
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, patient care technicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Use Zoll monitors, infusion pumps, lifts, bladder scanners, and other clinical equipment safely and effectively
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and support safe transitions of care
• Adapt to floating assignments while maintaining high standards of patient-centered care
