Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Kansas City, Missouri. The role involves providing specialized patient care within a 24-bed unit, handling a diverse patient population with diagnoses related to pulmonary, wounds, urology, general cardiac, neuro, and renal conditions. The position offers an opportunity to work in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital, recognized for excellence with a Level Magnet designation, and involves night shifts that require adherence to unit protocols and collaborative healthcare delivery.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, 2 years of nursing experience, 5 years of patient ratio experience, charting experience with a community hospital charting system, experience in trauma level II settings preferred, travel experience required
- Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
- Skills: Managing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Cardiac Telemetry, Central Line Care, Chest Tubes, CVA, ER Holding, Feeding Tube Care, Heparin Protocols, Dysrhythmia Interpretation, PPE/Isolation Precautions, IV Insulin Protocols, Telemetry Monitoring, Non-invasive Airway Management, Orthopedic Trauma, PCA, Peripheral Line Care, PICC Line Management, Renal Failure Management, IV Initiation, Surgical Drains, Tracheostomy Management, Use of Rapid Response/Code Teams, Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Float: Float rotation may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed

- RTO Restrictions: One request, with a maximum of 7 days of RTO; all requests must be finalized prior to submission
- Additional Notes: Experience in emergency response, telemetry, and trauma nursing is highly valued. The facility is a tertiary care hospital with a high volume of complex cases, equipped with advanced monitoring technology and support services essential for comprehensive patient care.
