Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nurse position in the approximate location. This role involves floating to all PCU and Telemetry units within the healthcare facility, providing specialized nursing care to patients with conditions such as stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, post-surgical care, altered mental status, dehydration, AKI, CHF, GI hemorrhage, and sepsis. The position emphasizes proficiency in neuro assessments, cardiac drips, and interpreting ECG strips, with an expectation for flexibility across various units and shifts.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour shifts, with start times between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; 2 years of experience as long as proficient with neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips; experience with Cardizem, Amio, and Heparin drips; EPIC electronic health record system experience; prior travel nursing experience; ability to read and interpret ECG strips and pass ECG exam.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on PCU or similar units; familiarity with telemetry monitor reads and EKG performance.
• Responsibilities: Provide bedside patient care, titrate drips, interpret telemetry strips, collaborate with medical teams, float between designated units as needed, and deliver care according to SOPs.
• Schedule & Flexibility: Travelers are expected to be flexible to work where needed, including potential weekend shifts (minimum of 4 weekends in a 6-week period), and participate in holiday staffing as necessary.
• Orientation: Three shifts of orientation across three different units plus general facility orientation.
• Additional Information: Must be comfortable with equipment such as CPAP and high-flow oxygen, and capable of adjusting oxygen settings or responding to respiratory situations. This role does not include on-call duties.
