Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift contract requiring recent Critical Care/ICU or ED experience and open-heart post-op skills.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730, three shifts per week
• Patient ratios of 3:1 or 4:1
• Cares for open-heart Day 2 or Day 3 patients with pacer wires
• Uses BiPAP, chest tubes, and PICC lines, and performs own lab draws
• Works without a dedicated vascular access team, managing own consults and codes
• EPIC EMR used
• Float required to ICU, Med/Surg, Med/Tele, Acute/Tele, and ED based on prior experience
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active KS RN or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care/ICU or Emergency Department experience required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Experience with open-heart post-op care and pacer wire management required
• Comfortable performing own lab draws and managing consults/codes independently
• CBC, drug screen, and lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance

Additional Information

• Provide critical care-level monitoring and support to progressive care and open-heart post-op patients
• Must work one holiday from each group: Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday, Christmas Eve or Day, and New Year's Eve or Day, with flexibility to work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Orientation includes multiple days at KUKC and Olathe campuses, including Director of Nursing training and virtual Epic training
• Facility is nicotine-free
• Bi-weekly pay period
• Client may cancel one shift per 2-week pay period with a minimum 2-hour notice via Smart Square
• Local and travel candidates accepted at the same bill rate
