Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position in a hospital setting. The role involves providing care for patients with respiratory, sepsis, renal, and general medical/surgical needs, including post-operative, orthopedic, and overflow medical patients. The RN will support various units within a fast-paced hospital environment, float within scope of practice, and manage complex patient care needs.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, with schedule provided three weeks in advance.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a registered nurse, with at least 2 years of recent experience in a Progressive Care Unit or similar acute care setting. Certifications required include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, lumbar drains, tracheostomy care, and IV medication titration (including Amiodarone, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, dopamine, dobutamine, non-DKA insulin, and heparin).
• Additional Information: The RN will be responsible for patient transport throughout the hospital, including to imaging departments, PACU, and Cath Lab. They should be flexible, resourceful, and able to perform patient education. The unit maintains a 1:5 nurse to patient ratio for medical-surgical staffing and supports a team model for rehab patients with a 1:8 ratio. Orientation includes two days of hospital onboarding and one day on the assigned unit. The RN must call the staffing office at least 30-45 minutes before each shift to receive assignments and arrive promptly.
