Job Summary
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) position in Salem, Massachusetts. This role involves providing mental health care in an adult psychiatric unit, with rotating shifts including day, evening, and night rotations. The RN will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive inpatient mental health services for adult patients aged 18 to 65 years.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating shifts including day (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.), evening (11 a.m. - 11 p.m.), and night (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.) shifts. There are no more than 2-3 shifts per time block, typically not for more than 1 or 2 time blocks within a 4-week period.
- Required Qualifications: Active Massachusetts RN License; AHA Basic Life Support (BLS); minimum of 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric experience; proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in psychotropic medications and side effects; able to assume role of charge nurse; capable of completing admissions and discharges; skilled in IV pump use and diabetic patient care; knowledge of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health regulations, rights related to restraint and seclusion, guardianship laws, healthcare proxies, and court-ordered medication.
- Preferred Qualifications: AVADE training, lead EKG training, familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) system EPIC.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit is a 30-bed adult psychiatric unit serving patients with diverse mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis (detox and mental health), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, wound care, diabetic care). Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations, legal statuses, and rights of inpatient care is essential.
