Job Title: School Psychologist Profession: Psychology Specialty: School Psychology Duration: Not specified Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: School-based psychology experience preferred License: Valid Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) credential Certifications: Must meet all state regulatory requirements Must-Have: Master's Degree, Specialist Degree (Ed.S.), or Doctoral Degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution Description: The School Psychologist provides psychological, behavioral, and educational assessment services that support student achievement and special education programming. The psychologist works collaboratively with educators, families, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate student needs. They develop interventions and support compliance with special education regulations. The role promotes positive student outcomes across academic, social-emotional, and behavioral domains. They conduct Full and Individual Evaluations (FIEs) and re-evaluations for students referred to special education services. Assessments include cognitive, academic, behavioral, emotional, adaptive, and social functioning. The psychologist conducts classroom observations and gathers data from teachers, parents, and support staff. They prepare comprehensive assessment reports and eligibility recommendations. Evaluations are completed within state and district timelines. Participation in relevant committee meetings is required. They assist teams with interpreting assessment results and developing educational recommendations. The psychologist supports eligibility determination and placement decisions. Contributions to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are essential. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies is required. Support for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes is provided. Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) may be conducted when appropriate. The psychologist assists teams with developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Data-based decision-making strategies are utilized to improve student outcomes. Support for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions is important. Collaboration with teachers, special educators, counselors, social workers, and administrators is necessary. Consultation with families regarding evaluation findings and student needs is part of the role. Recommendations regarding accommodations, interventions, and support services are provided. Assisting with professional development and staff training initiatives related to student support is required. Knowledge of psychological assessment instruments and evaluation procedures is necessary. Understanding of child development, learning theory, behavioral supports, and mental health practices is important. Familiarity with special education compliance requirements will be beneficial. Strong data analysis and report-writing skills are essential. Exceptional interpersonal, consultation, and communication abilities are required. The psychologist must possess the ability to manage multiple evaluations, meetings, and compliance timelines. A commitment to educational equity and student-centered decision-making is expected. Physical abilities include traveling between assigned campuses as needed. Conducting observations and assessments in a variety of educational settings is necessary. The psychologist must be able to sit for extended periods during evaluations, meetings, and documentation activities. They should respond effectively during crisis situations requiring immediate student support.
