Job Description

Job Title: Psychologist Profession: Psychologist Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Required Certifications: Required Must-Have: Psychological assessment and evaluation experience Description: Provides psychological services to patients, residents, consumers, students, and inmates. Conducts psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and assessments. Administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests. Reviews pre-admission or pre-treatment data. Conducts interviews and writes evaluation reports and treatment plans. Evaluates treatment plans developed by others and the quality of service rendered. Coordinates psychological services and programs. Assists with program development and conducts research on psychological assessment and treatment. Acts as a lead worker over lower-level psychological services staff. Conducts individual and group counseling and psychotherapy. Counsels on topics such as substance abuse, trauma, self-injury, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, impulse control, family issues, health issues, and interpersonal issues. Follows up on treatment and writes progress reports. Conducts psychological evaluations and court-ordered forensic evaluations. Reviews patients' current charts, past hospital records, prosecution files, court entries, and indictments. Interviews direct care staff, individuals, guardians, family members, attorneys, and case managers. Conducts suicide risk assessments and participates in involuntary medication hearings. Evaluates potential for suicide and consults with psychiatrists. Conducts assessments and works with clients to establish reasons for living. Teaches coping strategies. Diffuses and de-escalates issues while modeling positive behaviors. Conducts ongoing assessments of inmates to identify, prevent, and contain significant lethality risks. Provides psychological services to offenders under supervision. Coordinates services between institutional mental health services and community mental health providers. Completes re-entry accountability plans and conducts home visits to offenders. Offers specialized therapies such as aggression control and coping with neurological disorders. Provides psychological treatment through psycho-educational classes and group psychotherapy. Participates in treatment team functions and provides guidance to team members. Recommends policies and procedures for patient assessment, evaluation, and treatment. Evaluates defendants for mental status and competence to stand trial. Writes comprehensive forensic reports and statements for courts. Responds to subpoenas and testifies in court as an expert witness on psychological matters. Writes discharge summaries and behavioral recommendations for transitioning individuals out of institutions. Prepares statistical reports and graphs summarizing behavioral progress and interventions used. Acts as a liaison for offenders with treatment teams and boards. Reviews multiple charts, conducts interviews, and writes risk assessment reports and treatment summaries. Serves as an advisor on psychological matters for various departments and community organizations. Prepares materials for staff development and in-service training programs. Participates in meetings, conferences, and seminars. Serves on committees and represents the psychological unit. Consults with regional staff, parole officers, social workers, and mental health professionals. Participates in weekend coverage for evaluations and assessments of offenders on suicide watch. Possesses knowledge of relevant codes and guidelines. Understands ethical issues within forensic psychology. Demonstrates skills in operating personal computers and related software. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Recognizes unusual or threatening conditions and takes appropriate action. Conducts statistical analysis and counsels others on sensitive matters. Writes instructions and develops complex reports. Conducts various assessments including intellectual, educational, social-sexual, risk, and adaptive assessments. Maintains composure while testifying in court during adversarial legal proceedings.
