Psychologist – Region 5 (PRN)

Location: Columbus, OH 43215
Position Type: PRN (As Needed)
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: Minimum 6-Month Assignment
Education Required: Doctoral Degree in Psychology

Position Overview

The Psychologist will provide psychological services at various DODD facilities throughout the State of Ohio on an as-needed basis. Assignments and facility locations will be communicated in advance to allow for scheduling and planning.

Note: Travel may be required between DODD facilities; mileage reimbursement is not available.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Conduct psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and assessments.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological testing.
  • Develop treatment plans and evaluation reports.
  • Review patient histories, medical records, and treatment documentation.
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness and quality of care.

Counseling & Therapy

  • Provide individual and group counseling and psychotherapy.
  • Address issues including:
    • Trauma
    • Substance abuse
    • Grief and loss
    • Suicidal ideation
    • Self-injurious behavior
    • Family and interpersonal concerns
    • Behavioral and emotional disorders

Risk Assessment & Crisis Intervention

  • Conduct suicide risk assessments and behavioral evaluations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services.
  • Develop safety plans and coping strategies.
  • Monitor and assess risk of harm to self or others.

Consultation & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide consultation on psychological matters to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and case reviews.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on psychological services.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare psychological evaluation reports, treatment summaries, discharge summaries, and behavioral recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Prepare statistical and progress reports as required.

Training & Program Support

  • Participate in staff training, professional development, and in-service education.
  • Assist with program development and research initiatives.
  • Serve on committees and represent psychological services within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Psychology.
  • Active Ohio Psychology License.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Experience conducting psychological assessments, evaluations, and treatment planning.
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to various DODD facilities throughout Ohio.
