Job Title: Radiology Technician Profession: Clinical Specialty: Radiology Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: First Shift M-F Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: No experience required License: Active licensure through the state Board of Medical Imaging and Clienttion Therapy Certifications: BLS, ARRT certification Must-Have: - Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques and equipment operation - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills - Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and continuous quality improvement Description: Provide diagnostic imaging services to patients within a hospital setting. Utilize various radiographic techniques and equipment to perform imaging examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Job Responsibilities: 30% Patient Care Preparation, Safety, and Comfort: Greet patients and explain radiographic procedures, ensuring they understand what to expect and addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Obtain relevant medical history and clinical information to assist in the interpretation of imaging studies. Position patients appropriately and provide instructions for maintaining stillness during the examination to ensure optimal image quality. Monitor patients during radiographic examinations, observing for any signs of distress or discomfort and taking appropriate action as needed. Provide support and reassurance to patients throughout the imaging process, addressing any concerns and ensuring their comfort and well-being. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile environment in the radiology suite to minimize the risk of cross-contamination and infection. 40% Radiographic Imaging: Perform a variety of radiographic examinations, including general X-rays, fluoroscopy, and specialized procedures, according to physician orders and established protocols. Operate radiographic equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images of the body, adjusting exposure settings and positioning techniques as necessary. Apply radiation safety principles and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) guidelines to minimize patient and staff exposure to ionizing radiation. 10% Image Processing and Quality Control: Review radiographic images for quality, ensuring proper positioning, exposure, and image clarity. Perform basic image processing techniques such as cropping, collimation, and annotation to enhance image interpretation. Conduct quality control tests on radiographic equipment and accessories to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulatory standards. 10% Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document radiographic examination details, including patient demographics, procedure notes, imaging findings, and any relevant clinical information, in the electronic medical record or radiology information system. Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure, imaging parameters, and quality assurance measures in accordance with regulatory requirements. 10% Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate imaging services, interpret results, and facilitate patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, providing clear instructions, explanations, and support throughout the imaging process.
