Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Manager and Chief Technologist, perform radiographic procedures by applying ionizing radiation in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards. Set up equipment and prepare patients for examinations. Select appropriate transducers and frequencies for ultrasound exams. Obtain and review patient history and clinical data to assist physicians in diagnosis. Position patients and use immobilization devices as needed to obtain optimal views. Explain procedures and respond to patient questions to promote cooperation and comfort. Provide for patient safety and psychological needs during ultrasound and radiographic procedures. Requisition supplies and coordinate maintenance and repairs. Evaluate image quality and maintain proper labeling and radiology records. Assist physicians with special procedures, including needle biopsies. Instruct clinical and didactic units within the ultrasound program when required. Maintain knowledge of departmental and hospital policies, including infection control, fire, and disaster plans. Participate in continuing education and professional development. Maintain patient confidentiality and professional relationships. Perform other duties as assigned.
