Pediatric X-Ray TechnologistShift Details
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
On-call/callback/holidays per unit needs
On-call: 2–3 call shifts per month
Ability to report within 30 minutes to an on-call shift
Responsibilities
Verifying patients' identity and reviewing physicians' orders before beginning x-ray procedures
Using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians' written orders
Explaining x-ray procedures to patients and answering their questions
Positioning patients accordingly, which may include lifting and moving patients with limited mobility
Handling all radiologic equipment safely and properly, keeping dose to patient as low as possible
Observing each patient's status and interpreting the appropriate information needed to meet his or her age-specific needs
Producing a diagnostic, high-quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist
Promptly notifying management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment
Utilizing electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam-specific comments from the provider; understands and practices the Dual Patient Identifier procedure
Maintaining accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly
Requirements
Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and maintains Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
NYS license (or able to obtain license prior to starting)
Minimum 2 years of X-Ray Technologist experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in a children's hospital
Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level 1 trauma center
BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
Ability to move or lift patients
Ability to stand for extended periods
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
A patient and compassionate disposition
Team player who can maintain a cohesive working environment
Required Skills
Technician License (currently any Tech License is accepted in the state of NY) — Required
Two (2) years of experience — Required
BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) — Required
1 year of Pediatric experience — Required
1 year of Level 1 Trauma experience — Required
Additional Notes
Please include a skills checklist indicating familiarity with pediatric fluoroscopy exams (UGI, VCUGs, Barium Enema, etc.) and NICU portables
