    About Our Family

    We are a multicultural family based in the Bay Area seeking a smart and energetic governess / early childhood educator to join us long-term as we explore the world with our three young children who are under 4.

    Our family travels domestically every month and internationally a few times a year, so were looking for a savvy and adaptive teacher who thrives on curiosity and exploration, lifelong learning, and designing real-world education in a variety of new cultures, contexts, and environments.

    A professional with Montessori certification and both institutional and homeschooling experience would be most aligned with our familys values and pedagogical approach, but were open to a variety of early childhood education backgrounds. Fluency in English is required, but bilingual fluency in Mandarin or Spanish is highly preferred.

    The position is live-in during our extended domestic and international trips which can range from a week to a few months. When we are based in the Bay Area, both live-in and live-out arrangements can be considered.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and implement effective, age-appropriate curricula for children ranging from newborns to elementary age.

    • Adapt education to real-world contexts based on the location, culture,

    • Provide attentive, loving care that supports independence, emotional development, secure attachment, and lifelong habits.

    • Coordinate with parents and other caregivers to ensure smooth communication and consistency of care.

    • Handle all childrens logistics such as their school and activity schedules, play dates, meals and nutrition, laundry, toy and inventory management,

    • Manage family-assistant tasks such as activity scheduling, shopping, meal planning, event planning, and travel logistics.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 5+ years of professional experience caring for newborns through early elementary ages.

    • Prior live-in and travel experience with a private household.

    • US citizen or permanent resident (eligible for W-2 employment).

    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

    • Proven ability to create age-appropriate educational plans and activities.

    • Strong references from at least 3 prior employers.

    • Valid drivers license and safe driving record.

    • Physically fit, organized, and tech-savvy.

    • Comfortable with small dogs and household duties.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Native Mandarin or Spanish speaker, fluent in English.

    • CPR-certified and trained in pediatric emergency response..

    • Experience caring for multiple young children (< 4 years old) simultaneously.

    • Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education, Montessori, Reggio-Emilia, or related pedagogical study.

    • Institutional experience in a preschool, elementary school or formal education setting.

    • Familiarity with Positive Discipline (Jane Nelsen) or Conscious Discipline (Becky Bailey) approaches.
