Job Title: Recreation Therapist Profession: Recreation Therapist Specialty: Recreation Therapist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8:30 am to 5 pm (30-minute lunch) Experience: - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required - Master's Degree preferred - Experience in Dance and Movement, Art, Drama, Music, Yoga, or Recreational Therapy preferred License: - National Council for Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC) certification preferred - Valid Driver's License required - Must be 21 years of age or older Certifications: - AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required - Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required Must-Have: - Commitment to the safety and well-being of associates and patients - Compliance with vaccination requirements Description: Plans, directs, and coordinates recreation-based treatment programs for individuals with disabilities, injuries, or mental illnesses. Provides treatment services and recreational therapy using a variety of techniques, including arts and crafts, animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music, and community outings. Assesses patients using information from observations, medical records, standardized assessments, and input from medical staff and families. Develops and implements therapeutic interventions consistent with patients' needs and interests. Helps patients integrate into the community by teaching them how to use community resources and recreational activities. Performs patient care in accordance with identified needs and established policies and procedures. Plans treatment programs and evaluates patient responses to interventions. Modifies treatment plans as appropriate and collaborates with physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and therapists. Documents in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
