Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department, including assessment, prioritization, and intervention for urgent and emergent conditions
- Perform primary and secondary assessments, monitor patient status, and document findings accurately
- Administer medications and treatments within scope of practice, monitor for adverse reactions, and adjust care plans as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care and ensure timely completion of diagnostic procedures
- Educate patients and families, address questions, and provide discharge planning information and referrals as appropriate
- Maintain infection prevention, patient safety, and a healing environment; communicate effectively with the care team and patient/family updates
Requirements
- Current New York RN license (active)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute hospital experience as a registered nurse, with ED exposure preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Emergency Department and participate in holiday rotations
- Demonstrated clinical competencies for ED care, with strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
